When Michigan football signed the bulk of its 2026 recruiting class, things were a bit different. Sherrone Moore was still leading the program, and was over a week away from losing his job. But he was the one who sought out the players who signed, and he spoke about them once they put pen to paper.
But now, former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham is leading the charge, and he's inherited quite a class. But, even so, he had to convince them all to stay, given that they had signed up to play for Moore.

Starting with edge rusher Carter Meadows, one of the two five-stars, he's excited about his length and thinks he could really be an impact player down the line.
"Carter Meadows -- big, good-looking young man," Whittingham said. "6-foot-7, one of the top defensive ends in the country if not the top. Tremendous athlete. The length, as I mentioned, is a big positive for him, and had some good conversations with Carter. Young man out of Maryland, and we're excited to get him here in June."
Meadows will arrive in the summer, but one of the other five-stars, running back Savion Hiter, is already on campus as an early enrollee.

"Savion may be the best running back coming out this year," Whittingham said. "Tremendously highly-rated player, and he's here now, he's doing a great job. And where the workouts and he's doing very well and really excited to see what he can do in spring ball."
Spring practice is set to begin on March 17 with the annual spring game set for April 18.
